Why and where in Southern Oregon can we watch UO football programming? — Dick G., Medford In early August, the partnership between the Oregon Sports Network (OSN) and Chambers Communications came to an end because of disagreements during contract negotiations. OSN, as well as partner IMG, handle the media promotions for University of Oregon sports and Chambers Communications is the parent company of the state's ABC affiliates. OSN, and thus ABC, previously aired UO football games not broadcast by national networks, replays of games on other networks, and the Sunday night coaches' show. OSN and IMG have since reached an agreement with Comcast SportsNet Northwest to carry the programming listed above, as well as 14 exclusive UO basketball games and 15 UO baseball games. Comcast SportsNet will broadcast UO football games Sept. 20 vs. Boise State and Sept. 27 at Washington State. Comcast SportsNet, which also carries the Portland Trail Blazers, is not currently offered in Medford. Therefore, games and shows aired by OSN are not available in Medford. In the official announcement, Comcast SportsNet says it "continues to negotiate with other cable and satellite carriers to carry the network to sports fans across the Northwest." They encourage viewers without access to call their cable and satellite providers. Ashland TV, however, is one of 15 cities in Oregon and Washington that carries Comcast SportsNet (Ch. 82). Patronizing a sports bar in Ashland during OSN broadcasts might be a good option. Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
