The Ashland Gallery Association's signature fundraising event will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24, at various locations throughout Ashland. Each stop on the self-guided tour of 17 galleries will offer food from some of Ashland's best restaurants, local wines and looks at art exhibits. Tickets are $65 for Saturday and Sunday, $55 for Saturday and $45 for Sunday. Tickets, information and tour maps are available online at atasteofashland.com or by calling 541-488-0178. Tickets include commemorative wine glasses for tasting and can be picked up from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 21-22, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the information booth on the Ashland Plaza. Tickets also can be purchased at Ashland Art Center, 357 E. Main St. “Each winery and restaurant are painstakingly matched and work together to create unique pairings inside colorful galleries," says event coordinator Jeffery Jones in a press release. "All are within walking — or a trolley ride — distance from one another. It's an opportunity to sip 17 of the region’s best wines, taste food from 23 restaurants and experience artwork from galleries that represent hundreds of local, regional and international artists.” Food trucks join the lineup of eateries offering tasty bites this year. Three — Ooblies Waffles, Word on the Street and Fired Up — will be on site in the parking lot behind the Schneider Museum of Art on the Southern Oregon University campus, near the intersection of Siskiyou Boulevard and Indiana Street. Ooblies will pair with Paschal Winery on Saturday and L. Donovan Wines on Sunday inside the Schneider Museum of Art. The museum's spring exhibit, "In Scene," is a collection of video, photograms, installation and sculpture that explores the state of the natural world in modern times. Food truck Word on the Street will pair with Valley View Winery inside the Thorndike Gallery in SOU's Center for Visual Arts. The Thorndike will host a pop-up art exhibit featuring 15 artists from the Ashland Gallery Association. Food truck Fired Up will pair with EcoTeas in the Marion Ady Gallery — a student art gallery in the CVA. The food trucks also will accept individual food orders. Shepherd's Dream, a natural bed and bedding shop on A Street in the Railroad District, will host Nguyen Street Food's Vietnamese fare and sparkling sake from John Michael Champagne Cellars. "Of course, these are only four out 17 delicious locations on the Taste of Ashland tour," Jones says. "We even include dessert from Oak Street Station and mineral waters from Ashland Food Coop at Ashland Artworks.” There are several new galleries, wineries and restaurants on the tour this year, and they are all just a short ride from each other by hopping the Allaboard Trolley. Visitors can catch a free ride at any of the stops along the tour. Visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite restaurants, wineries and galleries by ballot for the Taster's Choice Award, and the voters' names will be entered into a drawing for two weekend passes to A Taste of Ashland in 2017. “It's the ultimate Ashland experience,” Jones says. Visitors can stroll through Ashland experiencing some of the best if has to offer, then attend an Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the evening, he says. "What could be better?"
