Mustangs remain unbeaten in Roseburg tourney By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 19, 2021 09:18 PM A A ROSEBURG — Medford posted double-digit hitting efforts in a pair of wins Saturday at the Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s Tournament, running its tournament record to 4-0 in securing a semifinals berth today. The Mustangs opened the day with a 13-6 win in six innings over the Klamath Falls Falcons, using 14 hits to build a 13-2 cushion heading into the bottom of the final frame. In Game 2, Medford (16-2) belted out 10 hits to record a 7-1 win over the Moundtime Baseball Club. The Mustangs will play an 11:30 a.m. semifinal contest today, with a potential championship game slated to start around 3 p.m. at Legion Field. Medford broke open the game against Klamath Falls with a six-run fifth inning that included doubles by Jeremiah Robbins and Trey Newmann and triples by Darin Marsh and Jace Miller. Eli Westrick went 3-for-5 with one run and three RBIs, while Miller also drove in three runs and the Mustangs got two hits apiece from Marsh, Robbins and Chase Costanti. Against Moundtime Baseball Club, the Mustangs scored in all but two innings, with Tanner Douglas going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs and Robbins going 2-for-3 with one RBI to help lead the charge. AJ Balsiger also had a solid outing on the mound for Medford, allowing three hits and no earned runs in five innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Gavin Schmidt came on in relief in both games, tossing a combined 4 1/3 scoreless innings with only one hit allowed against four strikeouts.
