The competition begins at 10 a.m. for kids 10-13, 11:30 a.m. for kids 14-17 and 1 p.m. for anyone older. Participants may use the Y's archery equipment or bring their own. The cost is $10 for Y members, $20 for others. Call 482-9622. Midsummer's Dream, an art and music festival to benefit schools and the Lithia Arts Guild, is set from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday on the Briscoe school grounds, 265 N. Main St., Ashland. The free event includes artists' booths, art exhibits, children's art projects, games and music. Call 535-3733. SUNDAY The International Trouters Society plans the fourth annual free fishing day trout derby at Lost Creek Lake. Free registration runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Takelma day use area near Lost Creek Dam. Five prizes will be awarded in four age groups. Trout must be caught from the lake between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 4:15 p.m. Call Dave Nadler at 245-0568. TUESDAY Advertisement Daniel Meyer Pool in Ashland's Hunter Park, on Homes Avenue between Walker and Normal streets, opens Tuesday and has open-swim times every day. Cost is $1. Call 488-0313 or 552-2250. The three-ring Circus Gatti will hold performances at 4:15 and 7:30 p.m. at the Southern Oregon Speedway, 6900 Kershaw Road, White City. Free tickets for kids 12 and younger are available from local merchants. The city of Medford sponsors the all-comers track meet, a free track and field competition for toddlers through adults, at the track at North Medford High School, 1900 N. Keene Way. Kids 12 and younger compete at 6 p.m.; others start at 7 p.m. Call 774-2400. WEDNESDAY Community artist and teacher Sharon Dvora will offer two two-day "Mosaics for the Garden" classes for kids 8 and older and adults today and Thursday at North Mountain Park, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. During the first class, which runs from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, participants will learn how to add colorful patterns to ceramic flowerpots. The second class runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and participants will use colorful tiles, gems and rocks to create a unique stepping stone. The second day will require 20 minutes between 10 a.m and noon to grout the projects. The cost is $10 plus a $10 materials fee. To register, call 488-6606. THURSDAY The Southern Oregon Song Writers Association will present a free concert at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler bandshell in Ashland's Lithia Park. Concerts featuring folk, country and blues music will be held throughout the summer. Call 488-5340. FRIDAY Medford's Hawthorne Park pool, 501 E. Main St., and the Jackson Pool, 815 Summit Ave., start open swimming times. Hours today are 1 to 3 p.m. and 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. at both pools and 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. at Jackson. Cost is 75 cents for kids and $1 for adults 18 and older. Hawthorne pool is closed Saturdays, and Jackson is closed Sundays, but both have open-swim times all other days. Call 774-2400. Medford's Concerts in the Park season will kick off at 7 p.m. with The Fabulous Fairlanes performing in Hawthorne Park in conjunction with Medford Cruise weekend. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival opens its summer season with The Feast of Will at 5:45 p.m. on the lawn near the lower duck pond in Ashland's Lithia Park. Sponsored by the Ashland Lions Club, the dinner, featuring lemon-basil chicken or vegetarian lasagna, salad, dessert and beverage, is $12. Proceeds benefit Lions' projects throughout Ashland. Tickets may be purchased through the Shakespeare Festival Box Office. During dinner, music will be provided by the Siskiyou Singers.
