Bartlett St., Medford. Picknell is the coordinator for the SOU Business Internship program, and will cover ways the program is beneficial to both students and businesses. Preregistration is required. Antarctica Presentations: Antarctica explorer Dave Baker will use imagery and videos to bring the icy continent to life from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, and Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Eagle Point library, 239 W. Main St., and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, and Monday, Jan. 26, at the Gold Hill library, 202 Dardanelles St. The first presentation includes ice sheets, icebergs and penguins. The second covers amazing scientific discoveries taking place at the South Pole. Emergency Preparedness Training: City of Medford Emergency Management will hold a free emergency preparedness training beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Medford Fire-Rescue Station 6, 200 S. Ivy St. The training will span four evenings and two Saturdays, with classroom portions covering topics such as emergency preparedness, disaster first-aid, light search and rescue and use of fire extinguishers. Front St., Medford. Learn how technology is shaping current art practices, and how artists are shaping the future of technology. NPSO Program: The Siskiyou Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Oregon will hold a free program celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Southern Oregon University Cascade Science Building, Room 114. Guest speaker Bridget Callahan will highlight botanicals of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, and current campaigns to expand wilderness protections in Oregon. The event is free. Call 541-941-3744. Performance Preview: A preview of Camelot Theatre's production of "Spotlight on Roy Orbison" will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at 101 Talent Ave., Talent. The performance, directed by Presila Quinby, will include vocals and rhythm guitar by Erik Connolly, and backup vocals and narration by Marlena Gray and Kathleen Marrs.
