Converse excels for Raiders May 09, 2008 12:00 AM A A GRESHAM — After four events in the Cascade Collegiate Conference heptathlon, Southern Oregon University's Mary Converse sits in third place with 2,203 points in Day 1 of the event at Mt. Hood Community College. She took second in the 100-meter high hurdles (16.94) and tied for second in the high jump (4 feet, 73/4 inches). Converse also notched a third-place finish in the 200 (28.05) and nabbed fifth in the shot put (28-3). The Raiders' other competitor, Ryan Ghelfi, had a provisional qualifying mark for the NAIA national championships in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:02.
