November 06. 2014 2:00AM Helen Doris Inman Helen Doris Inman, 97, slipped peacefully away from among the living on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in Ashland, Ore. Helen was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 14, 1917, the youngest child of William T. and Nannie H. (Proctor) Hewitt. She moved with her parents to the Phoenix-Talent, Ore. area in the mid 1930s. At a dance in 1940, in Medford, Ore., she met Edward W. Inman. They were married on August 3 of that same year in Reno, Nevada. Edward and Helen lived in Central Point, Ore. during the majority of their 62 years of marriage. In the late 1990s, they moved to Ashland to be near one of their two daughters. Helen was the consummate homemaker. Along with gardening, canning and pickling the resulting produce, she sold walnuts and cherries, kept rabbits and chickens, sewed, crocheted and crafted, all while raising children and caring for her nieces and later her grandchildren. Helen and Edward spent their leisure time together on many fishing and river rafting trips, hunting expeditions, camping excursions and train journeys throughout the United States and Canada. Helen was a member of the I.O.O.F. Rebekah Lodge and Community Bible Church in Central Point. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Inman; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Weston and John Toso; grandchildren, Michael Weston, Rob Weston and Sabrina Paulson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; two brothers, Alfred and Charles and two sisters, Wilma and Opal. Conger~Morris, Central Point is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. A celebration of Helen's life will be held in the spring for family and friends when the wildflowers are in bloom. Memorial contributions may be made to Food & Friends, Access or the Ashland Emergency Food Bank.
