While there’s no single program or group that coordinates social activities for disabled folks in our region, there are opportunities available through several independent groups. One good resource for social events and other services is DASIL, a Medford advocacy agency for people with a range of disabilities. The office is at 29 N. Ivy St.; call Director Kate Baxted at 608-6746 for information. The Rogue Valley Chapter of Easter Seals is another good option. This agency provides services for children with disabilities, sure, but members also coordinate social events for teens and young adults. Monthly dances are among the social opportunities available. Call Director Diane Mathews at 842-2199. One of the most socially active groups for the disabled is Deaf Services of Southern Oregon. This group sponsors a range of fun events for deaf members.
