The Spokane-based utility, which provides natural gas to Southern Oregon customers, reported net first-quarter income of $46.4 million, or 74 cents per share, compared with $48.5 million, or 81 cents for the first quarter of 2014. Avista Utilities' resource costs decreased $13.8 million, primarily due to a decrease in purchased power and fuel costs. Avista saw higher pension and other post-retirement benefits expenses as well as administrative and general wages amounting to $3.1 million. Avista also announced a 33-cents per share dividend payment payable June 15 to shareholders at the close of business on May 21. PRS plans expansion of Bay Area complex A Pacific Retirement Services managed retirement community in the Bay Area, is gearing up for a $67 million addition to The Meadows of Napa Valley. The project will add 242,000 square feet, 92 independent living apartments, underground parking, and an aquatic center to the 20-acre campus. PRS is headquartered in Medford and is the parent company of the Rogue Valley Manor. Session will include tips on using iMovie Nancy Rothermel will demonstrate the use of iMovie with iPhoto pictures and video clips and iTunes music to create movies at the monthly Ashland Oregon Macintosh Users' Group meeting. Apple devices and Apple-related software and hardware are the focus of the meetings, followed by question and answer session. The event begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, in the Ashland Community Hospital Conference Room, 280 Maple St. BOLI will discuss wage, hour laws  ASHLAND — Bureau of Labor and Industries representatives will provide an overview of wage and hour law issues on Wednesday, May 27, on the Southern Oregon University campus. The full day intensive seminar will include information on both federal and state wage and hour laws that affect employers large and small. Employers are encouraged to pre-register. The seminar is pre-approved for Human Resources Certification Institute credits. The cost is $180 per person, for two to five people $165 each, or six or more $155 each.
