Green Living: Recology Ashland & Renewable Diesel By Jake Higgins Updated: Apr 09, 2021 10:36 AM A A Recology Ashland collects all the recyclables in Ashland, and they pay special attention to the fuel source for the trucks. In 2008, a switch was made to B20 biodiesel fuel, but in a few short weeks, another change will be made to an even greener fuel source. Renewable Diesel 99, or R99 for short, is coming to Southern Oregon for commercial vehicles, and Recology Ashland will use this fuel to power 15 trucks that each go through around 50 gallons per day. R99 burns cleaner and has less of an odor than both biodiesel and normal fuel options.
