Jacob, Pardy vie for Rogue River School Board Mysti Jacob Tuesday Apr 25, 2017 at 12:01 AM The following are candidates vying for Position 2 on the Rogue River School Board in the May 16 Special District Election. Running unopposed are Bruce Sund for Position 4 and Erin Poston for Position 5. Ballots go out on Friday. Mysti Jacob Age: 47 Residence: Wimer Occupation: Sales and marketing Education: Bachelor of Science in Anthropology Political experience: Evans Valley Community Association, president, treasurer Top two priorities if elected: 1) I believe that strong communities are important for solid, thriving schools. And strong schools enhance and improve communities. I will foster the relationship between our community and our schools so they can both benefit. 2) Public education in the U.S. has gone through some substantial changes in recent years. I would like to ensure that our district can face the challenges that these changes bring, and utilize new innovative ways to educate. Our students should be able to use all available resources to succeed. Richard Pardy (incumbent) Age: 74 Residence: Rogue River Occupation: USN retired Education: Associate's degree, supervision and management Political experience: Incumbent, eight years on the Rogue River School Board, two years on the City Council. Oregon School Boards Association leadership training and awarded the prestigious Platinum Award. Top two priorities if elected: 1) Make sure we graduate 100 percent of our students, giving them as much college credits as possible. 2) Ensure funding to upgrade our district to the best possible, including deferred maintenance, repairs and teacher benefits and salaries.
