Pear Blossom Festival judged a winner Mail Tribune / Drew Fleming photo During the parade itself, performers did their best to include audience members, as Medford resident James Henderson, 3, and his sister Catlin, 5, discovered while watching from a street corner. With 165 entries and more than 5,000 participants, judges were hard-pressed to pick this year�s parade winners during the 48th annual Pear Blossom Festival Saturday. When the votes were finally tallied, a float created by Red Lion Inn took first in the general adult category. Second place was awarded to Hope of Heaven and Howling Acres Wolf Sanctuary nabbed third. In the general youth category, Jackson County 4-H won first place, Southern Oregon Figure Skating took home second and Southern Oregon Cinderella Youth Development was awarded third. North Medford High School Booster Club took the No. 1 spot for school youth floats, followed by Cascade Christian High School in second place and Rogue Valley Manor/Orchard Hill Elementary School in third. The Southern Oregon Scottish Bagpipe Band took first place in the walking adult category, while Realm of Honor and Chivalry took second and the American Cancer Society third. The Sweet Sensations Jazz Drill Team nabbed first place in the youth category, followed by Mark Oliver�s "Clowning Around" for second place and Recycles Bike Shop in third. In the Equestrian Adult category, the Southern Oregon Draft and Harness Association took first place. Rogue River National Forest walked away with second place and Bear Creek Greenway Equestrian took home third.
