William Tye Middlekauff, 27, of Grants Pass was sentenced to five months in prison. However, the sentence will be served at the same time he is serving a 15-month sentence for crashing into several vehicles in Jackson County in 2014 and fleeing the scene of the accidents. In the Monday plea agreement, Middlekauff pleaded guilty to obtaining and possessing a cellphone, a contraband item inside the jail. Charges of promoting prostitution and obtaining and possessing contraband tobacco were dismissed. Middlekauff was prosecuted in the case because he acted as the middleman, essentially setting up the sex-for-contraband exchanges, according to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. On Friday, Buddy Gene Arnett, 46, of Central Point admitted to providing contraband and having sex with male inmates between Oct. 31, 2014, and March 17 of this year. Arnett was a manager for Aramark, a food-service contractor for the Jackson County Jail. Arnett pleaded guilty to one felony count of custodial sexual misconduct in the first degree, and one felony count of supplying contraband. He was sentenced to three years' supervised probation and counseling to be determined by his probation office. He also was ordered to have no contact with any inmate unless he himself is incarcerated. According to Jackson County Jail officials, Aramark managers work alongside and oversee a crew of inmates involved in meal preparation. Arnett's attorney, Donald Scales, said inmates approached his client for the sexual encounters in exchange for contraband.
