It does not look like a professional sign made by the city. Is this sign recognized by the city of Medford and the post office as a legal sign? It just seems out of place. — Bob S., via email Yes, Bob, it really is an official sign, according to Kristina Johnson, communications and marketing manager for the city of Medford. “The city creates and manages all signs within city limits,” she wrote in an email. Kevin Way is off Barnett, an often busy artery, but Kevin Way is a quiet neighborhood road with a dead end. Johnson did not have any information about the history of Kevin Way, but according to the Mail Tribune’s collection of Polk City Directories, the street name first appeared in 1997. At that time, there were three households listed as living on the street (none of them appeared to be named Kevin). According to a Google search, Medford is not the only city in Oregon with a street named Kevin Way. Salem has one, too, and it is also a residential street, but it does not contain a dead end; instead, it transitions into “Kevin Court.” GoogleMaps also shows a Kevin Drive in Grants Pass, and a Kevin Lane in Aumsville.
