Brophy, Zielony named to All-State list Although a state championship wasn�t in the cards for the St. Mary�s High volleyball team they did manage to place two members of its Southern Cascade League champion team on the second-team 2A all-state list. Senior setter Lani Brophy and senior outside hitter Kristen Zielony represented the Crusaders during a third-place finish at state. Zielony, a four-year member of the varsity squad, led the Crusaders in kills and serve receive while finishing her prep career with 17 kills, 13 digs and three blocks against Sherman County. "Kristen played really well during the state tournament," said St. Mary�s coach James Joy. "She actually rolled her ankle in practice the day before the tournament but she taped it up and went out and played. She�s just a real warrior." Brophy also played well during the state tournament and led the team in assists and aces during the season. "She (Brophy) distributed the ball really well for us and was a great floor leader," said Joy. "She�s probably one of the top two or three setters in the state."
