October 19. 2014 12:01AM Jville Council Q&A: Clara Wendt Clara Wendt What is your top priority if elected? My top priority is to do a little more recognition for the (city’s) landmark status. I think … getting the people down from (the State Historical Preservation Office) could be a good idea because I’m not sure that anyone is really understanding the basic significance of this. How would you fund notching of the reservoir dam?  I believe in master plans. If you don’t have a master plan you are swimming in the ocean. I suppose we probably have to scramble to find some kind of grants. If costs go higher than anticipated  to update the city-owned courthouse for city offices , what would you propose? Urban renewal is not a cash cow. There’s no master plan, or if there is nobody knows about it. If the building is made into city offices, we don’t need that much space. We need private ownership in order to pay back urban renewal.   CLARA WENDTAge: 87Education: Bachelor's degree, graduate studiesWork: Retired high school teacherPolitical experience: Mayor, 1974-78; city councilor, 1967-73 http://www.mailtribune.com/article/20141019/NEWS/141019637 © 2015 Copyright © 1995-2011 Crain Communications Inc.
