What speed am I required to go, and what are the responsibilities of the construction crews to remove these signs in a timely manner? — Darrah H., Central Point If you see these signs or orange cones, Darrah, Medford police officials urge you to drive with caution and obey the posted speed limit. Even if construction workers aren’t there, or have been gone for weeks, the cones and signs could just be a reminder to motorists that road conditions have changed. Signs also might be left behind if additional shoulder work is needed, or if there is machinery or gravel or other products left behind for future use. Sometimes road work might not be apparent during the day, such as on freeway projects, so the cones and warning signs remain until the work is completed.
