Robert Allen Plumb, 37, of the 1300 block of Spring Street was arrested Wednesday evening on five felony drug and weapons charges. Following a drug investigation, Medford police officers served a search warrant at Plumb’s home. They reported finding an eighth-ounce of methamphetamine and evidence of the drug’s sale, along with a handgun and a homemade bomb. They arrested Plumb on charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing methamphetamine as well as ex-felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a destructive device. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $35,000 bail, where he remained Thursday. Medford police Lt. Tim George said the bomb was made from a 20-ounce plastic soda bottle, duct tape and fuses. Advertisement "It’s illegal to make one (or) to possess one," said George, adding that Medford police probably come across a homemade bomb every month or so. He said the bomb will be examined by the Oregon State Police crime lab to determine its capabilities. But it looked serious enough, he said. "I guarantee ya, it wasn’t for a birthday cake," said George.
