Teenage burglary suspects apparently knock first Teens knocking on doors may not be selling cookies or collecting cans, police warn. Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy Friday afternoon after he and another teen knocked on the door of a Girard Circle home around 2 p.m. and then tried to force their way in when no one answered. The male resident opened the door as the boys were trying to get in, chased them, grabbed one and called police. The boy was arrested Friday. The teen suspects may be linked to burglaries and car clouts in the area around Girard Circle in the past two weeks, said Medford police Lt. Mike Moran. Girard Circle is east of Sunrise Avenue in east Medford, a couple blocks south of Spring Street. At least two homes in that area were burglarized while the occupants were gone during the day, Moran said. Jewelry was taken from one residence, but descriptions of other stolen items were not available, he added. Three Ashland High School students were arrested last week in connection with at least 10 burglaries to homes in the Mill Pond area over a period of two weeks. Those suspects - two 15 years old and one 16 - also knocked on doors to see if anyone was home before breaking in, said Ashland police Sgt. Kirk Cromwell. The boys were arrested after neighbors identified them. Most stolen items - primarily home electronics and musical instruments - were recovered. The boys were charged with multiple counts of first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal trespass. The teen suspects in the Girard Circle burglaries face similar charges in addition to unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. Moran said anyone seen trying doors should be reported to the Medford Police Department at 770-4783.
