Once that need is filled, donations may be distributed to others in need. The secret of sexual abuse tainted this girl’s Christmas from the time she was 3. Now 15, she summoned the courage only a few months ago to disclose the crime committed against her by a distant family member over the course of five years. She since has been in therapy at the Children’s Advocacy Center, but her spirits could use a boost this holiday season. Some new clothes, including footed pajamas and anything purple, would delight the girl, who also loves anime and books with Japanese themes. She wears large-size shirts and a size 9 in shoes and pants. Her younger brother, age 5, loves Batman, Superman, Iron Man and the television show “Peppa Pig.” He wears size 6 clothing and size 12 children’s shoes. Lacking a washing machine in her Medford residence, the kids’ grandmother spends considerable time at coin-operated laundries. Her own appliance would give the woman, who has legal custody of her grandchildren and works full time, a few more free hours at home. Gift cards to stores that sell major household goods would greatly assist her toward this purchase. The family also would appreciate gift cards to Food 4 Less and Winco to purchase food for their holiday meal. Gift cards to Ross Dress For Less and Walmart would help them buy some other supplies and sundry items. A Medford nonprofit organization, the Children’s Advocacy Center provides critical services in a safe, kid-friendly environment for children and teens healing from abuse.
