The Raiders (13-7, 10-2) erased a 13-point second-half deficit and forced overtime at 66-all when Washington converted a buzzer-beating inside jumper. After the teams scored two points each in the first overtime, Ward opened the second OT with a 3-pointer and had a key steal with 15 ticks left to help preserve a 73-70 SOU lead. Guards Brad Coen and Steve Farley each converted a free throw in the final eight seconds to ice Southern Oregon’s longest game since 1999. "We gutted one out tonight," Raider coach Brian McDermott said. "We had a lot of heroes in a game we easily could have lost by 20 based on Evergreen’s determination." Advertisement Despite scoring only twice in extra time, Washington finished with a game-high 28 points, and the 6-foot-7 power forward hauled in eight rebounds. Farley nailed three 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 16 to go along with six rebounds and five assists. The Geoducks (9-15, 4-8 CC) received a 20-point performance from all-star forward Walter Tucker and 13 from guard Giovonne Woods. After rushing to 20-11 and 34-22 first-half leads, Evergreen clung to a 34-30 halftime edge despite shooting 63 percent in the opening stanza (15 of 24). Southern Oregon took a brief 37-36 lead before the Olympia school scored 14 consecutive points over a seven-minute span that was countered by a 21-8 Raider rally. Women’s Basketball EVERGREEN STATE 65, SOUTHERN OREGON 56 — At Olympia, Wash., Evergreen State swept the season series with Southern Oregon (3-20, 2-10 Cascade Conference) for the second consecutive year. The Geoducks (12-10, 7-5 CC) held on for the win despite squandering a sizable second-half bulge. Evergreen scored 14 of the first 18 points in the second stanza to build a double-digit advantage, but Southern Oregon whittled the lead down to four, 55-51, with 4:23 left and had two chances to cut the margin to three before fizzling in the school’s seventh consecutive setback.
