Torres gave Montoya a standing eight count in the first of three rounds. Torres, ranked third nationally in his age group, continued to dominate with a barrage of straight right hands. Torres will face left-hander Isiah Thomas of the famed Cronk Gym of Detroit in today’s finals. Torres, a past Silver Gloves champion, has a 40-9 record. Sky Diamond of Medford will contest for a national championship today in the 10-11, 55-pound division. Diamond and Dominak DeLaRose of California are the only two competitors in the division.
