Grants Pass rallies past Eagles EAGLE POINT - Grants Pass cashed in from the free-throw line in the final quarter to rally for a 55-51 victory in Southern Oregon Conference girls basketball Friday. The Cavers (12-10, 6-7 SOC) trailed by as many as six points in the fourth quarter but capitalized on 17-of-21 free-throw shooting in the period. Grants Pass trailed Eagle Point 36-33 entering the fourth quarter, but outscored the Eagles 22-15. Sophomore wing Shannon Claflin scored a game-high 17 points and senior post Megan Moon added 16. Claflin went 6-for-6 and Moon 6-of-8 from the line in the final period. Alison Klingel hit all four of her free throws in the fourth and finished with nine points. Eagle Point's Dani Rouhier and Ashley Curtis combined for 31 points and 13 rebounds. Alissa Lee added seven points and seven rebounds. Eagle Point fell to 2-11 in the SOC and 5-17 overall. ASHLAND AT KLAMATH UNION POSTPONNED - At Klamath Falls, the game was postponned because the school's ventillation system was deemed a fire hazzard by a building inspector according to Klamath Union coach Brandon Jensen. The game was rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. today at Henley High. Even though Klamath Union High School will be closed until Wednesday, the Pelicans final SOC girls game against Eagle Point on Tuesday is still scheduled to be played at the school. Boys GRANTS PASS 67, EAGLE POINT 50 - At Grants Pass, senior point guard Tyler York hit three of his five 3-pointers in the first quarter as fourth-ranked Grants Pass jumped to a 21-7 advantage. Brant Minor paced the Cavemen (16-4, 8-3 SOC) with 22 points and six rebounds. York ended with 15 points and six assists, while junior post Kory Mahr added 12 points. KLAMATH UNION 61, ASHLAND 40 - At Ashland, Klamath Union caught fire in the last half of the fourth quarter and turned what had been a close game into a rout in SOC boys play. Ashland (5-16, 1-10 SOC) trailed by only five when Klamath went on a 3-point binge - four of their five treys coming in the fourth - then made 11 of 14 free throws. Titus Weston scored 12 points and Isaac Wright 10 for Ashland. Wright, a 6-foot-4 senior, also had 14 rebounds. Jacob Wynn and Zach Tucker each had 14 points for the Pelicans (11-9, 6-5 SOC).
