He was born June 22, 1937 in Henrieville, Utah to Malen and Sara Littlefield. His sister JaNell was born two years later. The four of them lived together another nine years, until the last child, Stephen, was born. James went to Davis High School in Layton, Utah and worked his way through the University of Utah where he received his CPA degree and graduated with honors. He became a partner with Price Waterhouse in San Francisco and later went on to become an executive at Del Monte Foods. James met Susan Himler in San Francisco. They were married in 1962 and had two boys, Brenton (Sylvia) and Andrew. James served as Senior Warden at St. Francis Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Susan introduced James to live theater in the 40 years they resided there and, after coming to see the plays in Ashland, both Susan and James fell in love with the town, bought a condominium, and moved here permanently. During his time in Ashland, James became very involved in OLLI classes and OSF events, and was a very active member and treasurer at Trinity Church. He enjoyed his two grandchildren, Carolina and Yuji, and he and Susan visited them often. James is survived by wife, Susan; sons, Brent and Andrew; sister, JaNell Cook; brother, Stephen Littlefield; and grandchildren, Carolina and Yuji. His funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions in memory of James W. Littlefield, to The Bowmer Society of OSF, PO Box 158, Ashland, Oregon 97520.
