Errors prove costly as Rogues fall again to Potters By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jul 07, 2021 10:12 PM A A A night after suffering their worst loss of the 2021 season, the Medford Rogues were able to hang right with the Lincoln Potters for six innings. Then the Rogues’ defense fell apart. Aided by a bevy of defensive miscues that added up to a total of seven errors, the hard-hitting Potters were able to pull away from the Rogues and claim an 8-0 win Wednesday night at Harry & David Field. The Rogues (21-5), who entered the series on a nine-game winning streak, have now lost back-to-back games and been outscored 30-9 in the process. Lincoln took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third when first baseman Garrett Forrester, one of Oregon State’s top power hitters this spring, launched a two-run home run over the left field fence. Potters cleanup hitter Jeffery David recorded four of his team’s seven hits in the game, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Lincoln starting pitcher Shane Gustafson limited the Medford lineup to just one hit over five shutout innings. Gustafson, out of Nevada-Reno, had seven strikeouts and walked one. Jackson Hall recorded two of the Rogues’ three hits Wednesday night.
