Head over to RecFest at Hawthorne Park at 1 p.m. The fourth-annual event features an afternoon of free activities geared for kids and families. RecFest showcases the city’s mobile recreation program and several other activities contained in the Medford Parks and Recreation summer magazine that was delivered to local mailboxes last week. RecFest, which is co-sponsored by the city of Medford Planning Department, runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free. Pre-registration is not required. Activities and events include basketball contests, an obstacle course for kids, laser tag, a bounce house, a SNAG golf course, a Medford Police vehicle display and more. In addition, the park’s new spray park — the largest in Medford — will be open for the first time. Children participating in the obstacle course will receive free sunglasses and sunblock pens, while supplies last. The event also includes free hot dogs for up to 200 people. This year’s RecFest includes informational displays from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, TGA of Southern Oregon, Collaborative Theatre Project, AllCare Health, AARP, Go Rogue Dog Training and Krazy Kritter Dog Walking.
