Page takes second in heptathlon KLAMATH FALLS - Southern Oregon University's Kena Page took the lead in the women's heptathlon with two events remaining at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Events Championships Tuesday at Oregon Tech. But first-day leader Kacey Jones of Oregon Tech came back to win the competition. The final tally was Jones 3,909 points to Page's 3,781. Page moved ahead of Jones after the long jump when the Raider senior from Cave Junction picked up 648 points for a leap of 17-feet-51/2 inches while Jones garnered 519 points with a 15-11 jump. Jones came back strong in the javelin with a toss of 121-10 to regain the lead and increased her margin in the 800 meters. A third women in the heptathlon, Macy Campbell of Oregon Tech, dropped out of the event with an injury in the long jump. In the men's decathlon, junior Bryan Quinn of Oregon Tech moved from fourth place to edge first-day leader Matt Young of Eastern Oregon by 39 points for the title. Quinn beat Young in only one event - the pole vault - on the final day. Quinn, who finished third in the pole vault at the NAIA nationals last year, picked up 722 points with a vault of 14-4, while Young's mark of 8-11/4 was only good for 235. That one event spelled the difference. Quinn finished with a winning total of 5,683 points to 5,644 for Young.
