Family will get car at benefit show A needy Jackson County family will receive a free car during a Saturday benefit that promises entertainment, food and prizes for the public. The Custom Car Show and Shine will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Diamond Audio, 1229 Court St., Medford. Proceeds from the event will benefit United Way. Included in scheduled entertainment is a car show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a stereo contest and prize drawing. Also, a 1988 Dodge Aries automobile will be presented to a needy local family, said Don Langston, owner of Diamond Audio. The family includes a mother, father and several children. The father has been using rollerblades to get to and from work. Langston chose them from among several families seeking services from the Salvation Army. "They seemed to have a real love for their children," he said. "Im kind of soft-hearted." The car will be presented between 4 and 5 p.m. Entertainment also will include drawings for a free oil change, free window tinting, a Delta car alarm, a cell phone and activation fees, a CD player, a trip for two to White Rock resort and a three-day, four-night cruise for two, plus many door prizes. Food and drinks will also be available. Many items and services were donated for the event. For information call 245-9359.
