Concordia overcome fast start by SOU PORTLAND � Concordia was able to overcome a sluggish start to defeat the Southern Oregon University women�s basketball team 74-61 at the Cavalier Dome on Tuesday. The Raiders started quickly grabbing a 23-11 lead early in the first half. But the Cavaliers rallied back cutting the Raider lead to only three at halftime. In the second half the Cavaliers were the aggressors taking the ball to the basket and getting to the free throw line. The Cavaliers held a 19-2 edge over the Raiders in free throws made. "In the second half they shot the ball better than we did, and they got to the line more than we did," Raider coach Shirley Huyett said. The Raiders shot 43 percent from the field and the Cavaliers shot 47 percent. Concordia outrebounded SOU 43-27, including 12 offensive. Lacey Grimm had a game high 16 points for the Cavaliers. Sarah Peterson led the Raiders with 12 points while Alison Richards scored 10 and added seven assists. The Raiders play their final home game Saturday against first place Albertson College on senior�s night. S. Men SOUTHERN OREGON 75, WARNER PACIFIC 73 (OT) � At Ashland, Southern Oregon turned the ball over 23 times and blew a 10-point second-half lead but managed to hang on for the overtime win. Sophomore T.J. Caughell scored five of his 13 points in the extra period to lead the Raiders to their fifth consecutive victory. Warner Pacific, who beat SOU 66-65 on a buzzer-beating shot on Jan. 6, overcame a 41-31 deficit five minutes into the second half with a 15-6 run, and took a 54-52 lead with five minutes remaining. Five ties ensued culminating with a pair of Jeff Huston free throws with seven seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score at 60. A desperation heave by Knight guard Dan Munson came up short in overtime. Shavon Haynes scored a team-high 15 points and Matt Zosel added 12.
