PREP GOLF: Fresh off 63, Drury helps spark St. Mary’s By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Apr 12, 2022 10:09 PM A A Low scores have been nothing new for the St. Mary’s boys golf team, but the Crusaders were certainly put to the test during challenging conditions Monday in the Bandon Invitational on the Old MacDonald Course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Despite rain and high winds on the coast, St. Mary’s was able to place second as a team and junior Elliot Zimmer tied for second among individuals with a season-best 78. Junior standout Brock Drury tied for fourth place with sophomore teammate Tiger Kao and Bandon’s Peyton Simonds after each carded an 80. Henry Ehrlich of OES earned medalist honors with his 77. Drury was coming off a sensational showing last Thursday when he shot an eye-popping 63 on the Bandon Trails Course at Bandon Dunes during a Ryder Cup-style match play event that included the Crusaders. Players played two matches in their 18-hole foursomes in that event, with Drury going 2-0 on what was a picturesque sunny day behind his 8-under-par 63. Freshman Josh Moran also went 2-0 for St. Mary’s in that event, which included four teams from Oregon, two from Washington and two from California, after shooting 75.
