The Cougars defeated the visiting Hornets, 25-12, 25-17, 25-13. "We’ve been really serving well," Prospect coach Marcy Gallagher said. "That’s what’s leading the way for us." Senior Nicole Newcomb and freshman Megan Shallenberger combined for 20 service points to spark Prospect (9-0, 4-0 Sky A) from the line. Newcomb pounded eight aces, while Shallenberger added two. "(Newcomb) was pretty much everywhere on the court," said Gallagher. "She really stepped up today." Prospect outside hitters Candice Bennett, Lacy Musard and Shallenberger slammed six kills apiece. Advertisement Senior setter Mallory Bennett had a team-high 18 assists. Prospect hosts Gilchrist at 2 p.m. today in a battle for the Skyline A Southern Division lead. BUTTE FALLS 25-25-25, PAISLEY 16-10-11 — At Paisley, Melody Carlisle had six service aces and 18 assists to lead Butte Falls. Carlisle served out eight-straight points in Game 2 and 10 straight in the final game to help the Loggers improve to 3-2 in Skyline A League play. Butte Falls sophomore middle Kyndi Sutfin was 8-for-12 in kill attempts and junior Shawna Wright was 8-for-13.
