Second St., Phoenix. Pastor Mike Foster will lead an anniversary worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. A community cookout will be held on the front lawn of the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. The event will include activities for all ages, music, a ringing of the church bell and bubbles. St. Mark's Sunday school picnic St. Mark's Episcopal Church will hold a Sunday school family picnic from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Don Jones Memorial Park, 223 W. Vilas Road, Central Point. See cslroguevalley.org . New pastor at Ashland's First UMC The congregation of Ashland's First United Methodist Church will welcome a new pastor, Rev. Phillip Antilla, during a service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at 175 N. Main St., Ashland. Antilla will talk about his personal call to ministry. Antilla comes from the Kansas City area, where he served as pastor for young adults at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan. His wife, Aimee, will teach English and history at Ashland High School. The church's previous pastor, Pamela Nelson-Munson, was appointed to serve at Eugene's First United Methodist Church. Rev.
