Avista cuts home gas price by 3.2 percent Tuesday Jan 30, 2018 at 4:32 PM Jan 30, 2018 at 6:31 PM Local report Oregon's Public Utility Commission has approved Avista’s request to return $2.5 million to customers, which will lead to a price reduction in natural gas  effective Feb. 1. Avista’s request to lower prices comes amid a continued decline of wholesale natural gas prices. The average residential or small commercial customer using 40 therms will see a decrease of $1.59 per month, or approximately 3.2 percent. The present bill for 40 therms is $49.79, while the new bill will be $48.20. Individual customer savings is dependent on their actual natural gas usage. Avista provides natural gas to 342,000 customers in a service territory that covers 30,000 square miles in parts of southern and eastern Oregon, as well as eastern Washington and northern Idaho.
