He says his plans are to do "whatever puts food on the table and joy in my heart." His honors and activities include a 4.0 grade-point average, Model United Nations member, Math Team finalist, first place in Southern Oregon Math League 2006 Math Contest, Howard Dreiszus Memorial Scholarship, water polo letter 2005, Spanish II Student of the Year 2005, Humanities Student of the Year 2005, Pre-Calculus and Discrete Math Student of the Year 2005. Lucy Claire Curran, daughter of Colleen Curran and Robin Foster, plans to attend Harvard College next fall. Her main interests are music performance and composition, English, theater, the visual arts, politics and philosophy. She plans to do something in music or theater and would like to use the arts, music in particular, to bridge divides that exist in the world and promote dialogue. Her honors include a 4.0 GPA, National Merit Scholar Finalist, National Honor Society and Ashland Rotary Club Student of the Month February 2006. She also was the violin soloist with the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon during spring 2006 concert series. Natalie Jablonski, daughter of Dennis Jablonski and Donny Nickelson, plans to attend Brown University and possibly major in environmental science. Her honors include a 4.0 GPA, Kiwanis Student of the Month, AP Scholar, Outstanding Math Student grades 9-11, Outstanding French Student grades 9-11, Outstanding Chemistry Student, National Merit Finalist, winner of American Mathematics Competition 10 at Ashland High School. Chris Lipski, son of Tom and Sheryl Lipski, plans to study chemistry or physics at Oberlin College. His honors include a 4.0 GPA, Outstanding Student Awards in math, chemistry and Spanish, the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, school nominee for the National Council of Teachers of English Writing Contest, American Chemical Society Outstanding Student, high scorer on the American Mathematics Contest and qualification for the American Invitational Math Exam. Alayna Posavatz, daughter of Cathy Council and Steve Posavatz, plans to attend the University of Oregon and possibly pursue a career as a high school English teacher. Her honors include a 4.0 GPA, Outstanding Biology Student, Outstanding Chemistry Student, Outstanding Humanities Student, Elks Scholar and Outstanding Academic Achievement. Butte Falls High School Tiffany Rose Smith, daughter of Leonard and Cindy Smith, plans to attend Portland State University for two years, then transfer to Hofstra University to complete a bachelor's degree in business management. She would like to become an event planner and manager of musical artists on the East Coast. Her honors include a 3.96 GPA, "Who's Who Among High School Students," National Honor Roll, Certificate of Initial Mastery in math and English, Special Distinction in National Forensic League, and USAA nominations in student government, leadership, science and math. Crater High School Sarah Costelow, daughter of Steve and Doreen Costelow, plans to attend Southern Oregon University and major in business. She is applying for the 2006 Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Program so she can graduate in three years rather than four. Her goals are to be a successful entrepreneur, community supporter and own her own business. Her honors include a 4.08 GPA, Crater FFA president, Honor Society president, 4-H Brownsboro Sheep president, Academic Student of the Year, Principal's Award, FFA Student of the Year and Rotary Student of the Month. Robert Hayward, son of Lisa Hayward and the late Bruce Hayward, plans to attend the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., beginning June 29, 2006, where he will major in electrical engineering and pursue a career in the Air Force. His honors include a 4.08 GPA. Eagle Point High School Michelle Aries, daughter of Ken and Teresa Aries, plans to attend Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Tiekara Michelle Beams, daughter of Michael and Marrie Beams plans to major in nursing and minor in Spanish at Southern Oregon University, then work as a registered nurse in the Rogue Valley. Rogue River High School Timothy Douglass Perston, son of Doug and Wendy Perston, plans to major in pre-engineering at Oregon State University for two years, then transfer to the University of California at Berkeley. He plans to pursue a career in the engineering field.
