http://www.omniture.com --> Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Advertisement Email Story to a Friend June 9, 2006 [an error occurred while processing this directive] Fighter jets will fly this weekend An F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet is expected to soar over the second annual Rogue Valley Air Festival on Saturday and Sunday. The military aircraft, tentatively scheduled to fly over the festival between 11 a.m. and noon each day at the Medford airport, will be one of numerous unique aircraft at this year's event, said festival coordinator Joe Puckett. The aircraft, flying out of a military base in Utah, is expected to make three passes each day, Puckett said. "It's as done a deal as you can get with the military," he said. "We've confirmed it, but they definitely always tell you it depends on world events." Yet even with the remote chance the stealth aircraft's schedule could be disrupted, there are plenty of other events that will make the festival fun and interesting, he said. In addition to the Stealth Fighter, demonstration flights on tap include an F-15 Eagle fighter jet from Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, a Coast Guard Dolphin helicopter, a Navy H-1 helicopter and two privately owned L-39 fighter jets from Seattle. Ground displays will include a squadron of aircraft from new airplanes to corporate jets and vintage military warbirds, he said. Members of Warbird Squadron 13, a group of historic military aircraft buffs, will be on hand to answer questions and talk about their aircraft. Participants can view displays by the Transportation Security Administration, Experimental Aircraft Association, take part in the kids activities at the Civil Air Patrol booth or buy a ticket for the Children's Miracle Network Harley Davidson motorcycle raffle. They will also have the chance to talk to flight instructors, pilots and aircraft dealers. Participants can take a ride in a small airplane for $30 or a ride on a helicopter for $35. "This is a great family event that benefits our community, and it's affordable," he said. "Everyone will find something interesting and educational at this year's festival." From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, the event will be held at the North Jet Center, 5000 Cirrus Drive. Admission is $5 for anyone 10 and older, and those under 10 admitted free. Donation of a nonperishable food item for Access Food Share Inc. will have $2 reduced from the admission fee. Free parking will be available.
