Pair arrested after storage site incident SHADY COVE � A man and a woman apparently living in a rural storage unit were arrested at gunpoint Saturday after the man allegedly threatened a local police officer. Michael Callas, 53, and Susan Chapman, 47, were charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. Shady Cove Police officer Dave Osborne said he confronted the pair at about 8:30 p.m. at a storage unit at 2400 Indian Creek Road after receiving a report of a woman screaming. Callas refused to open the unit on Osborne�s request, Osborne said Sunday. When he did emerge, he was menacing, Osborne said. "He came at me in a threatening manner and said �You�re going to have to shoot me or I�ll kill you,� stuff like that," said Osborne. Callas was unarmed, he said. Osborne called for backup units from the Jackson County Sheriff�s Department, but was able to subdue Callas. Callas was also charged with theft of services stemming from a recent incident in which he allegedly stayed at a local motel and left without paying. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $5,000 bail. Chapman was lodged on $1,000 bail. Osborne said it was unusual to find people staying in a storage unit.
