Fast leads Vikes over Mustangs KLAMATH FALLS -- Mazama moved into a tie for second in the Skyline Conference boys basketball standings with a key 74-62 win over Hidden Valley on Wednesday night. The Vikings (10-8, 7-4 Skyline) stand second with the Mustangs (12-11, 7-4), with each team having three games left on their schedule in order to help break the tie. Top-ranked Henley sits atop the conference standings with an unblemished mark thus far this season. Troy Fast poured in 26 points and Kyle Michaelis had 17 to pace Mazama, which broke the game open by outscoring Hidden Valley a combined 46-32 in the second and fourth quarters. Hidden Valley coach Robbie Tate said the big advantage in those quarters was due in large part to Fast, who scored 11 points in the second and nine in the fourth. "They just took care of business," Tate said. "They outrebounded and outhustled us." Mazama also displayed a deft shooting touch, knocking down eight 3-pointers and connecting on 20 of 28 free throws -- including 10-of-15 in the fourth quarter. Craig Lee hit four of his five 3-pointers in the first half to boost Hidden Valley. Lee finished with a team-high 19 points, while Dereck Horning added 16 and Willie Isley had 11 for the Mustangs.
