II player of the week. The 6-foot-7 Springfield native joined former SOU point guard Ricky Acoff (1995) as a recipient of the national honor. Washington led second-place Raiders (15-12, 10-3 Cascade) to Cascade Conference victories against Evergreen State (73-63) and Northwest (69-66) at McNeal Pavilion last weekend. Washington tallied 24 points, four blocks and a conference-record 24 rebounds against the Geoducks Friday — the most caroms hauled in by a Raider player in a game since Dane Hill collected 28 against OIT in 1970. On Saturday against the Eagles, the Montana State transfer and former Thurston High all-star played only 23 minutes due to foul trouble but still managed 20 points and five rebounds. Washington, who shot 18-for-28 in the two games, solidified his status as the league’s top rebounder (9.3) and No. 4 scorer (19.3). The two-time conference player-of-the-week pick is also third in the league and fourth on the school’s all-time season leader list for blocks (41). Washington is in the midst of compiling SOU’s most prolific all-around season since 1983-84, when honorable mention NAIA All-American forward Mychal Hitchcock averaged 18.6 points and 10.3 rebounds.
