Medford foursome heads to Pebble Beach PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Four Medford men begin competing today on one of the most famous golf courses in the world. Bill Bednar, Dave Shinn, Mike Fischer and Jim McLean - the winning team from the 2001 Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournament at the Rogue Valley Country Club last summer - are set to face more than 130 teams from across the country in the Cadillac Invitational National Finals. The four-day event tees off today at Pebble Beach, which is home to the annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and regularly hosts the U.S. Open. Bednar, Shinn, Fischer and McLean won the regional event at the Rogue Valley Country Club in late-June with a 16-under-par 56. The foursome entered the tournament at the last minute and nudged the team of John Anhorn, Scott Reed, Jim Botsford and Jerry Eklund by two strokes. In 1999, the Southern Oregon championship team claimed second place at the national finals. Four courses will be used in this year's tournaments - Pebble Beach, The links at Spanish Bay, Old Del Monte and Bayonet at Fort Ord. Proceeds from all the Cadillac Invitational events go to the National Kidney Foundation.
