Red Cross desperately needs blood The American Red Cross has announced a drop in the blood supply due to recent increased needs in the Pacific Northwest. According to inventory manager Neal Heineman, "We have less an a one-day supply of O-negative blood available for people in our communities who need transfusions." Communities are encouraged to support local blood drives through the end of the month: Today: Medford Blood Donor Center, 60 Hawthorne Blvd., Medford, 12:45-5:30 p.m. Tuesday: Medford Blood Donor Center, 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday: Cascade Masonic Lodge, Shady Cove, noon to 5 p.m. Thursday: Newman Methodist, Grants Pass, 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 26: First United Methodist, Ashland, noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 30: Medford Blood Donor Center, 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31: North Valley High School, Grants Pass: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 105 pounds and be in general good health.
