Hesia dumps in 41 as Mazama drops North Valley The Knights tried to make the 5-foot-7 junior point guard go to his left hand more and stuck one of its best defenders on the prolific scorer. It was mission impossible, however, for the Knights as Hesia hit five 3-point goals and scored 41 points to lead the Vikings to an 83-62 Skyline Conference win on Friday. "I don't remember him missing a shot," said North Valley coach Martin Connelly. "He's pretty impossible to defend but sure is fun to watch. Of course it would be more fun if I was a Mazama fan." The Knights put defensive ace Sam Cain on Hesia to attempt to slow down the junior guard. "Cain is probably one of the quickest defenders in the conference," said Connelly. "He actually played pretty good defense on (Hesia), but the kid was just unbelievably hot. "It's pretty incredible to think Hesia's only a junior." Jared Giacomelli added 17 points for Mazama. Derek Wright led North Valley (2-8, 0-1 Skyline) with 23 points and Cain added 12. Teammate Sean Gronholm pulled down six rebounds and the Knights only committed seven turnovers. Luchterhand shot 11 of 19 from the field and snatched seven of his 14 rebounds on the offensive end. Schoner notched 12 of his 20 in the fourth, including three of his five 3-pointers.
