The Pacific Northwest’s oldest outdoor music and performing arts festival will kick off June 6 with the annual Taste of Summer celebration in downtown Jacksonville and will wind up Sept. 16 with the band Primus and the Fungi Ensemble performing "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." The Taste of Summer will include a wine walk, live music, food booths, artisan crafters, classic car displays and more. The sounds of the season will range from the jazzy classic rock of Chicago to the country vocals of Dwight Yoakam and Vince Gill to the unique visions of "Weird Al" Yankovic. "I think it's one of the strongest seasons we've had in a long time," Britt Executive Director Donna Briggs said. In a revision of an alcohol policy that's been in effect the last couple of years, patrons will be permitted to take beer or wine that hasn't been opened with them when they leave the grounds. "If they bring a six-pack and drink three beers, they can take the other three home as long as they haven't been opened," Briggs said. She said the last signing for the season was late Wednesday afternoon, and that the festival is still avidly pursuing one more act.
