And the Black Tornado came away with a straight set home victory, 25-11, 25-14, 25-13. South Medford (0-11, 0-8 SWC) struggled handling tough serving by the Black Tornado. "We played really clean," said North Medford coach Erika Wright. "We didn't make a lot of errors. Our aggressive serving and attacking kept the pressure on them." Emily Carter, a senior outside hitter, paced the North attack with 12 kills, six digs and four aces. The Black Tornado (7-8, 4-3) also received important contributions from sophomore Kiley Pauck (four kills, three blocks) and senior rightside Cassie Campbell (four kills). North setter Alex Barry had 12 assists and nine digs and Taelor Mayben, a junior setter, also provided solid defense. "Both our setters stepped up to the challenge and were consistent throughout the night," said Wright. "(South Medford) tired to attack that part of our defense." WILLAMETTE 3, GRANTS PASS 0 : At Eugene, Willamette swept, 25-23, 25-13, 25-11, during Southwest Conference action. Elliott Cook had eight kills, Halleigh Noga six kills, Melia Bents nine assists and Haley Dougherty 13 digs for the Cavers (2-9, 1-6 SWC). NORTH EUGENE 3, EAGLE POINT 0 : At Eugene, Eagle Point got 18 digs from Kylene Briggs and six kills, 10 digs and seven assists from Ryleigh Gainey in the Midwestern League loss, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21. Shoshawna Hoeptner added seven digs, five kills and three blocks for the Eagles (3-11, 0-6 MWL), and Michaela Morris added eight digs and seven assists. MARIST 3, CRATER 0 : At Eugene, Marist won the Midwestern League match, 25-18, 25-18, 25-11. Destiny Fahndrich had six kills and five digs and Tori Lanieri eight kills for the Comets (8-5, 3-3 MWL). HIDDEN VALLEY 3, PHOENIX 0 : At Murphy, Hidden Valley took advantage of its superiority on the outside to post a 25-5, 25-8, 25-21 Skyline victory. The Pirates (3-9, 0-5 Sky) suffered their sixth straight loss. Phoenix leaders were Danika Meer (seven kills), Lyzett Gutierrez (15 digs) and Emi White (15 assists). CASCADE CHRISTIAN 3, LAKEVIEW 0 : Cascade Christian’s Ellie Brown scored five aces in serving the final 15 points of the opening set and the Challengers cruised from there to gain the Southern Cascade League victory, 25-11, 25-9, 25-16. Brown finished with nine kills and six aces, while Claire Hawkins had seven kills and Alyssa Brown added 23 assists and four aces for Cascade Christian (11-1, 3-0 SCL). ST. MARY’S 3, ILLINOIS VALLEY 2 : At Cave Junction, Madi Christensen had 21 kills and St. Mary’s eked out a 25-10, 25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 15-7 Southern Cascade League win. Mackenzie Addington was 33-for-34 serving with six aces, Ashley Rietmann recorded six kills and 25 assists and Hallie Shean added six kills for the Crusaders (9-7, 3-0 SCL). BUTTE FALLS 3, ROGUE RIVER 0 : At Butte Falls, senior middle hitter Raleigh Weaver managed 13 kills, seven digs and five solo blocks to lead Butte Falls to the nonleague victory, 25-12, 25-23, 25-15. Destinee Ault added two aces to help lead the Loggers (5-4). Rogue River (0-11) received 11 digs and two aces from Bella Dodson and five digs and four assists from Heather Myer.
