The 17th-ranked SOU volleyball team (22-5 overall) will host College of the Ozarks (16-14) Saturday at noon inside Bob Riehm Arena. It will be SOU’s first home NAIA playoff game since 2010, and the winner will advance along with 23 other teams to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa. The first NAIA Football Championship Series game at Raider Stadium in 12 years will kick off at 4 p.m. The eighth-ranked Raiders (9-2) will be playing No. 9 MidAmerica Nazarene (9-1) for a shot at their second trip to the quarterfinals in the last three seasons. Tickets for both contests go on sale this morning at souraiders.com/tickets, from the athletic department office and at the gate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only NAIA passes will be accepted; season tickets are no longer valid. Volleyball ALL-CONFERENCE: Three Southern Oregon seniors — outside hitters Motade Atanda and Paulla Pinheiro and libero Brookelynn Cole — landed on the All-Cascade Conference volleyball team, whose 14 members were announced Monday by the league office, and setter Lauren McGowne received honorable mention. Atanda, Cole and Pinheiro helped the Raiders reel in their first regular-season conference title since 2010 and put them in this weekend’s first round of the NAIA Championships. The Raiders shared the CCC title with Eastern Oregon, whose middle-blocker, Casey Loper, was named the player of the year for the second straight season. Atanda, in her first year as a Raider starter, beat out Loper for the CCC kills crown. She averaged 4.3 per set in conference matches, delivering more than 10 in her last 13 matches and going over 20 seven times this season. She has 397 total kills, which is more than any Raider has had in a three-year stretch, averages 2.6 digs per set — good for third on the team. Pinheiro, who is regarded as one of the most well-rounded players in the CCC, was one of five repeats on the team. During conference action she was the only CCC player who ranked among the top 15 in kills per set (3.3, seventh), service aces per set (0.4, second) and digs per set (3.0, 11th). Between Atanda and Pinheiro, this is the first time two Raiders have eclipsed 300 kills in the same season since 2007 (Richelle Milsap and Mia Wortel). Cole was a primary reason the Raiders led the CCC in opponents’ hitting average (.133). This was her first season acting as SOU’s libero, and she recently became the eighth player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs (she has 1,039). Her 538 in 2014 (5.2 per set) rank fifth for a single season. Soccer FOUR PLAYERS HONORED: Four Southern Oregon women’s soccer players have been named first-time Cascade Conference all-stars, as voted on by the league’s coaches. Raiders Paige Kilpatrick, Megan McArthur and Allyson Ward were selected to the second team, and Presley Lambert received honorable mention. Kilpatrick, one of the team’s five seniors, was a cog for the SOU defense the last four seasons and a starter the last three. She contributed to 22 Raider shutouts during her career and this year helped limit opponents to 11 goals in nine conference matches. Ward, a junior, has started 33 games on defense since her freshman season and also played a little midfield in 2014 while recording the first two assists of her career. A junior forward, McArthur had a team-high five goals, including two game-winners, and three assists. She has 10 goals and five assists in her career.
