CRIME NEWS Applegate man charged with sexually abusing girl over 18-month period Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM Posted Dec. 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM » Social News An Applegate man indicted on a slew of rape, sex abuse and sodomy charges stemming from alleged abuse of a minor over an 18-month period was arraigned Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court. Everett Allen Scott, 48, of the 114000 block of Upper Applegate Road, was arraigned on four counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one count each of first- and second-degree rape, and one count of unlawful sexual penetration in the second degree. Jail records show Scott has been in the Jackson County Jail since Nov. 21, held on $1 million bail. Court records show Scott was indicted Nov. 25. The indictment says the charges stem from the sexual abuse of a girl that started Jan. 15, 2013, and continued through July 15, 2014. The girl was younger than 12 when the abuse started, the indictment says. It's not known how the two knew each other. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department could not immediately be reached and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office declined comment on the case.
