The Panthers (3-2), who opened the season 0-2, notched their third straight win Saturday with a 60-50 victory over Bend at the South Medford gym. Bend trimmed a seven-point deficit to two with 3:30 to play but the Panthers hit their free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Brittany Farrer led South with 18 points — eight coming in the fourth quarter — and 11 rebounds. Katie Singler had 13 points, five assists and three steals and Elora Grant added eight points and eight boards. Turnovers have been a bugaboo for the Panthers and, although they coughed it up 27 times Saturday, coach Andrea Jaime couldn’t be happier with her team’s progress.
