He was born August 10, 1932 in New Plymouth, Idaho to J.C. and Edna Parker, both of whom are deceased. Jack attended Fruitland, Idaho schools graduating from Fruitland High in 1950. He lettered in track, baseball, and football. Football was always the love of his life and when he was in school, sports interested him more than the classroom. After graduation Jack joined the Navy where he served for three years. Upon being discharged he attended College of Idaho in Caldwell before transferring to Idaho State College (University) in Pocatello, where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. He met Betty Ryan at ISC, and they were married in 1958. He taught school in Idaho for six years before moving to Medford, Ore. in 1963. He taught at Hanby Jr. High in Gold Hill, Ore. and coached football for 27 years. He retired in 1990. Jack and Betty lived a fairytale life which included two daughters and four grandchildren, all of whom he loved and adored. He and Betty traveled in the U.S. and Europe, including a family cruise to Alaska. They built a home in Jacksonville and owned a cabin at Lake of the Woods where many enjoyable family hours were spent . They were also very involved in the Presbyterian Church. Jack was a past president of Kiwanis and rode a bicycle in Cycle Oregon three different years. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years; two brothers, Vincent of Meridian, Idaho, and Harold of Kona, Hawaii; daughter, Kris Parker of Eugene and her partner, Tina of Medford; daughter, Meg and husband, Kevin Esch of Danville, Calif. and four grandchildren, Jeff Lewis of Salem, Ore., Jennifer Lewis of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Camden Esch of San Francisco, and Lily Esch of Danville, Calif.; and many friends and relatives. Jack was a very kind, gentle, and loving man. He enjoyed people and would say, "I've never met a man I didn't like." He had a nickname, Pooch, which is used lovingly by many to this day. He will be greatly missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Ore. Chapter of the Alzheimer Assn. A family gathering to remember Jack is being planned.
