Cascade Christian's Christina Cannon wins 2nd in Congressional Art Competition "Pointe of Grace," by Christina Cannon, a sophomore at Cascade Christian High School in Medford, has been selected as the Second Place Winner for the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) has announced that Liberty Rossel, a senior at Grants Pass High School, has been selected as the overall winner for Oregon’s Second Congressional District in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Liberty’s drawing, entitled "We Have Seen Too Much," was selected by a panel of eight judges. Liberty will travel to Washington, D.C., to see her artwork displayed in the national student art exhibit in the U.S. Capitol and attend a reception in her honor on June 29th, 2017. Christina Cannon, a sophomore at Cascade Christian High School in Medford, has been selected as the Second Place Winner for the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Her "Pointe of Grace" was ranked highly by a panel of judges, including Southern Oregon University art professors Cody Bustamante and Robin Strangfeld, Rogue Gallery & Art Center executive director Kim Hearon, and Art and Soul Gallery Director Judy Richardson. Christina’s artwork will hang in Walden’s Washington, D.C. office. Walden also announced the regional winners from Oregon’s Second District: "Let’s Look Up," by Shannon Hoyer, Mountain View High School. "Leaf View," by Alexis Wilson, Phoenix High School. "Gazelle White and Black Charcoal Portrait," by Samantha Kamrath, Phoenix High School. "Call to the Mountains," by Jessica Elam, Dufur High School. "Farm Alarm," by Jin Sue Kim, Burnt River School District. Regional winners will have their art displayed in one of Walden’s offices in Bend, Medford, La Grande, Hood River, and posted on his website at https://walden.house.gov/art-competition.
