PROGRAMMES BROADCAST BY FM STATIONS

Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: 


(a) whether the Government has analyzed the programmes broadcast by FM stations in the country; 

(b) if so, whether they conform to the mandate given to them; 

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the corrective measures being taken in this regard; 

(d) whether some of these stations have not been permitted to broadcast local or regional news bulletins; and 


(e) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. 

Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (e) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 273 for answer on 09.03.2006 

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. 

(c): Does not arise. 


(d) & (6): All India Radio broadcasts news and current affairs programmes on its FM Channels. Private FM Stations, as per Phase - | 
and Phase Il policy guidelines, are not permitted to broadcast News and Current Affairs programmes.
