FM radio licences
2738.SHRI EDUARDO FALEIRO: Will the Minister of INFORMATION
AND BROADCASTING be pieased to state:
(8) the list of commercial FM radio stations which have started
functioning along with date of functioning, station-wise;
(0) the list of parties who have given bid for various commercial
FM radio licences in various States and have not yet launched
operations;
(0) the action taken against those who have not yet launched
operations;
(d) whether the FM slots not operationalised yet, will be offered to
other parties to run FM radio stations; and
(8९) whether Government will reconsider the policy of offering FM
slots to the highest bidder in view of failure of this policy in the past?
THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING
(SHRIMATI SUSHMA SWARAAJ): (a) List of FM radio station and the dates
on which operating licences were issued to them is at Statement-!. (See
below)
(0) and (c) Bank guarantees have been encashed in respect of
one company and action for encashment of Bank Guarantees in
respect of two other companies is being pursued in the High Court of
Mumbai.
The list of companies who signed licence agreements for setting up
radio stations, but are yet to operationalise them is at Statement-ll. (See
below)
(9) and {e) There is no proposal to offer non-operationalised FM
slots to other parties.
